Afton Oaks / River Oaks

Known as one of the richest neighborhoods in Houston and home to former President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush Afton and River Oaks are located in the center of Houston Texas. Close to Uptown Downtown Houston Afton Oaks and River Oaks are wonderful spots for growing families retirees college students and single adults enjoying the nightlife. There are a vast amount of major employers in the area since Afton and River Oaks are close to The Galleria area Downtown and the Houston Medical Center. You do nt need a Murcielago to live in Afton or River Oaks. Afton Oaks and River Oaks are great communities to look for real estate condos and apartment complexes. There are a number of terrific attractions in the Afton Oaks and River Oaks area. Afton Oaks and River Oaks are near downtown.

Greater Uptown

Best area in Houston to live in. I happen to work in the Galleria area too so the commute is perfect. The schools are great depending on which schools you are zoned to in the area. However the majority of Houston employers are located in the nearby Galleria area which can cause traffic and congestion at peak travel times during the week. Close to Midtown Downtown Houston Greater Uptown is the perfect spot for singles and young couples. This is one of the best areas of Houston for nightlife and is home to many of the famous bars and clubs. There are a vast amount of major employers in the area since it is close to The Galleria.

Neartown / Montrose

In central Houston just inside the Loop and North of The Southwest Freeway you will find the trendy area of Neartown. Well known and main streets in the Neartown or Montrose area include West Gray St. Montrose Blvd. The Neartown area is well established and extremely friendly to residents as well as visitors. This location encompasses the majority of the LGBT LesbianGayBisexualTransgender Community in the Houston area and is known for free expression. Montrose or Neartown is known for its artsy feel and houses the Houston Museum District which offers local attractions at the Museum of Fine Arts and the Contemporary Arts Museum. The area is not that big and has a small town vibe inside of the nations fourth largest city.

Greenway / Upper Kirby

Located on the West side of Central Houston just inside the Loop you will find the trendy area of GreenwayUpper Kirby. Currently you can hikebikerunor walk your dog at Levy Park River Oaks Park and Hermann Park. Greenway Upper Kirby is a brilliant little area. Centrally located and close to many major Houston streets and highways this portion of town gives anyone living or visiting here great opportunities for food shopping and entertainmentlifestyle pursuits. Greenway and Upper Kirby are situated off State Highway. . Minutes from the downtown area Greenway and Upper Kirby provide tourists with wonderful locations to explore. There are several hotels in this portion of Houston. It is near Westheimer and the Galleria area which offers one of the countrys toprated malls.

Binz

Since the Binz area is located next to the Houston Medical Center you will find a variety of transportation forms. Several major roads in the area are Binz Street and Almeda road. The Binz area is also in close proximity to Hermann Park the Houston Zoo several Museums and MacGregor Park if you are interested in the outdoors exercising or golfing. There are approximately people living in the Binz area. The museum district is within close proximity of Binz. Two of these are The Childrens Museum of Houston and the Holocaust Museum Houston. Binz is located near downtown and offers visitors access to this area. Citizens can travel to locations in the Binz area by train bus or taxi. This large park is nestled in the medical community near Binz.

Clear Lake

Clear Lake has long been one of the popular suburban locations in the Houston area. Clear Lake is a lush residential area with a variety of large subdivisions. You can find one and twostory homes throughout this area. There are also a number of fine apartment complexes in this area as well. Home to the University of Houston at Clear Lake this area attracts students from around the state of Texas. There are a number of great tourist attractions here. The local NASA Space Center is a popular attraction to people from across the country. Bay Area Mall is one of the nearby shopping locations situated off Bay Area Boulevard. The mall area is in close proximity to the Gulf Freeway and Interstate. This area offers great restaurant selections as well as entertainment options.

Washington Avenue

Washington Ave Memorial Park are wonderful portions of Houston. Main streets traveled in the area are Memorial Drive Studemont and Yale. This is a busy area of Houston and very close to the Historic Heights that has become a popular residential area again after the many restorations. Washington Avenue and Memorial Park are two of the great neighborhoods in Houston. Interstate Highway Interstate Highway State Highway and the Loop are easily accessed from these neighborhoods. There are some wonderful attractions in the Washington Avenue and Memorial Park neighborhoods. Here you will find Memorial Park Golf Course and the River Oaks Country Club. Washington Avenue is a street in this area as well as a community. At one time this area was one of the busy areas of commerce in the city.

MacGregor

Inside the Loop at the South portion of Central Houston you will find the neighborhood of MacGregor. This part of Houston is located close to a rundown area known as the Greater Third Ward as well as The Houston Medical Center. The MacGregor area is close to the Med Center which is a busy place and traffic can be hectic especiall during peak travel times. Beyond medical facilities you will uncover Hermann Park Houston Museum of Natural Science and the Houston Zoo. The area is home to many colleges such as Baylor College of Medicine Houston Community College and Rice University. But MacGregor is a working middleclass gem hidden in a rough area. But University of Houston and Texas Southern University are to the north of the neighborhood and provide many opportunities and programs for young learners.

Alief

Alief…. As Mobrian stated Alief encompasses the following areas the Sam Houston Toll road Westpark Toll way and The Southwest Freeway. The people here are great and so is the foodlol The Alief area is located in the Southwest portion of Houston Texas. Nearby major freeways include the Sam Houston Toll road Westpark Toll way and The Southwest Freeway. Alief is one of the most highly concentrated Asian communities in Houston Texas. To the South and East of the Alief area you will find more quality nightlife shopping spots and restaurants due to the closer proximity to Beltway or the Sam Houston Toll road. State Highway Southwest Freeway the Westpark Tollway and the Sam Houston Tollway are a few of these. There are attractions in the Alief area which brings residents from around the city.

Midtown

This location provides easy access to Downtown Uptown The Galleria Area The Houston Medical Center and Neartown. Major streets in the area are Fannin St. San Jacinto St. and Alabama St. The Midtown area is prime location for strip centers businesses museums and entertainment venues. Houston Community College has a campus located in Midtown and several others nearby include University of Houston Rice University and Texas Southern University. Midtown is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the Houston area. There are a number of major roadways in the general area of Midtown. You will also find busy streets throughout Midtown. Many locations in Midtown display the skyline of downtown Houston. The Houston Can Academy Charter School is situated in the Midtown area. One of the attractions in this area is Baldwin Park.

Greater Heights

Bordering the North Loop and Interstate in North Houston is where you will find the Historic area of the Heights. The Heights is a fairly updated area where many residents have taken it upon themselves to renovate their homes or buy and flip them for a profit. The Greater Heights neighborhood is one of the oldest quaint offerings in the city of Houston. Visitors of this area enjoy many of the modern offerings of other communities. Much of the architecture in this area is original to the history of the Greater Heights. There are many nearby communities to the Greater Heights location. Greater Heights was designed as Houstons Super Neighborhood. This area is completely unique among many of the other offerings in the city. Residents of Greater Heights have convenient commutes to area commercial and business locations.

Braeswood Place

Several main streets located in Braeswood Place are Braeswood Buffalo Speedway and Stella Link. Braeswood Place is on the outskirts of town but very close to Bellaire which is an upscale neighborhood. Because of the close proximity to Reliant Arena the Houston Medical Center and several universities you will feel the energetic vibe with your first visit. Braeswood Place is a great offering in the Houston area. Some of the popular streets in this location are Buffalo Speedway Kirby Drive and North Braeswood Boulevard. Braeswood Place has some of the nicest communities in Houston. The parks in Braeswood Place are terrific choices for weekend activities. It is located near the Houston Medical Center. The Stella Link Park Community Center is a much used resource in Braeswood.

Eldridge / West Oaks

Located in West Houston very close to Katy Eldridge is located just off of Interstate. With the newly widened freeway this area provides easy access to many Houston destinations. This is a more established area of West Houston while the outskirts of Westchase are growing at a rapid pace. Apartment homes are plentiful in this tree lined plush area. These are terrific offerings in the city of Houston Terry Hershy Park is another smaller park offering in this area. New home buyers have a choice between older areas and brand new offerings. These are luxurious residential offerings. This is a great area to visit and to live in. These neighborhoods proximity to area destinations makes it special. I grew up in this area. This area has great amenities and is a short distance from great nightlife.

Oak Forest / Garden Oaks

Oak Forest is one of the many great neighborhoods in the city of Houston. Oak Forest is a large residential community here. There are a number of fantastic areas near this neighborhood. Garden Oaks is one of the communities in this area. This neighborhood is within close proximity to many of Houston’s major roadways. You will find a number of busy streets in this portion of the neighborhoods. The attractions in this area add to the neighborhoods charm. The TC Jester Park is another great attraction in Oak Forest. There are many great nearby communities to this neighborhood.

Meyerland

Meyerland sits right along the Loop and is an older established neighborhood. Apartments can be found abundantly and include The Villages at Meyerland which offer all bills paid with rental. The school district here for grade school students is Houston ISD. There are other popular roadways in the Meyerland area. The Meyerland Plaza Shopping Center is one of the areas largest outdoor shopping locations. This area also has a great park location for families to enjoy. Bayland Park is nestled in the heart of the Meyerland neighborhood. Other parts in this area attract residents from around the city. The neighborhood itself sits on acres of luscious land. This neighborhoods proximity to many other Houston destinations makes it convenient. This area has good subdivisions to choose from as well as shopping and dining choices.

University Place

One of the quaint locations in the city of Houston is the University Place neighborhood. This is a convenient place to both visit and to live in. Both of these provide residents with quick commutes to the downtown area. Many of the streets that converse University Place also run towards downtown. Here you will find one of the citys popular universities. Rice University is one of the terrific offerings in this area. Citizens from around the state journey to this area each week. There are major hospitals and medical centers in University Place. This is a fantastic area. Rice University a large outdoor park the Houston Zoo and the Houston medical center are very close. The area has tons of fine dining and retail available.

Lazy Brook / Timbergrove

The Lazybrook/Timber Grove area is located just inside the Loop in Northwest Central Houston. The real estate listed in this area is quite affordable compared to other areas of Houston since it is an older area of town with smaller homes. Unless you really need to live next to Loop I would continue searching for a residence in the many other areas of Houston. There are many inviting subdivisions in this area to choose from. You will find great shopping and restaurant offerings in this area. This is one of the busy commercial areas in Houston. Downtown Houston is one of the areas within minutes from of these communities. Nice subdivisions are some of the fine places to live in the Houston area.

Spring Branch Central

This highly populated Hispanic area provides an easy commute to most regions in North West and Central Houston. Since the Spring Branch area offers convenient access to so many nearby freeways there are many options for dining entertainment and recreation. Real estate in the Spring Branch East area ranges drastically so much depends on the actual street you visit. Spring Branch Medical Center is located in close proximity and a few miles further you will find Memorial Hermann Hospital Memorial City. While the public school system in this area is not the best rated there are many upscale private preschools and grade schools for your child to attend.

Sharpstown

Sharpstown is located on the West side of Central Houston and is in between Loop and The Sam Houston Beltway. Some of the main roads traveled in this area are Bellaire Beechnut and Harwin. Sharpstown is home to Bayland Park Westwood Country Club Sharpstown Country Club and Houston Baptist University. Sharpstown Mall is located here and just a short drive away you can reach Downtown and The Galleria Area. If you visit this area you will discover bungalow style homes. Alongside these offerings are modern apartments and housing choices. Sharpstown is a very ethnic portion of Houston to visit. Sharpstown Park is one of these offerings. State Highway the Southwest Freeway and the Loop are popular offerings in the Sharpstown area. Some of these include Gessner Road Beechnut Street and Bellaire Boulevard.
